Repo by Black Dice

Black Dice have concocted a brand new album titled Repo. The band has migrated from loose experimental noises into a comfortable sound where they can explore a more structured collective of music.

The first track begins with bubbly noises and beats and then blends to some kind of electro-chant groove session. Yelping is always a good idea. From the drowned out club-pop distortions of “Lazy TV” to the soft offbeat reggae tempo of “Glazin”, the album definitely seems to define some abstract lines. This is what appears to separate it from 2007’s Load Blown that embodied blotches of textured sound more than structured rhythms. Speaking of album covers, Repo is actually quite nice but still does not come into contention with the cover off of Broken Ear Record. That cover is a cover befitting of gods.
