This may come as a surprise to some people but four astounding indie bands have made it to the pinnacle of music popularity listings. Yeah I'm talking about the iTunes most downloaded album list. And yes I did just say that.
These bands include:
Animal Collective's Merriweather Post Pavilion
Bon Iver's Blood Bank - EP
Fleet Foxes
Vampire Weekend
I commemorate these bands and their albums. Whether you would take something like this as a hit to the band or setting them up on a pedestal, there’s one thing that we can all agree on and that is that these albums are fucking mind-blowing.
As for AC, Merriweather Post Pavilion treats my brain as if it were some schizophrenic pancake waiting to be flung into a cosmic cloud of rainbow fish or rocketed into a radioactive slime pool of bog-gremlins. The contrast of echoing dissonance and brilliant pop melodies and rhythms make this album bleed mind-drooling perfection.
