Well if you didn’t watch the Grammys here is what you missed. This year, the Grammy Awards tried to step up to the altar and offer some quality bands and entertainment. Some great creations and performances by M.I.A, Radiohead, Lil Wayne, Kanye West, and Paul McCartney were met with more dry performances by the same old “safe” and traditional tunes. In the end, the voters went with what was old, dry, and respected with Robert Plant and Alison Krauss winning the Best Album of the Year award.
The outstanding Radiohead won Best Alternative Album and also received a trophy for Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package for In Rainbows, go figure.

Lil Wayne intensified his superior artistry and came away with four trophies including Best Rap Album and Best Rap Song for “Lollipop”.
Electrifying Daft Punk won two awards for Best Dance/Electronic Album—Alive 2007, and Best Dance Recording—Harder Better Faster Stronger.
As for the M.I.A she did not win Best Recording for Paper Planes as I had dreamed but she amplified her awesome in-your-face attitude by performing at the Grammys with a baby due any second during the performance. Watching her perform was like watching a circle of 5 year olds play hot potato with a bottle of nitroglycerin.
Radiohead pulled off an unexpected performance playing “15 Step” alongside the USC Trojan Marching Band. This awe-inspiring addition to the song went over quite nicely and Thom York’s presence controlled the entire stage…ok Jonny Greenwood controlled some too…
So here’s to yet another Grammy presentation (slightly better than others) trying to be hip and stylish but ultimately saturated with undeserved awards. The SHOW, however, was quite interesting to watch and did contain a surplus of talent. Kudos to Radiohead, Lil Wayne, M.I.A, Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, Paul McCartney, and Daft Punk.
Here is the entire listing.
